3SC Gets N10.6m Subvention
The management of Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan said that they had received N10.6 million being the balance of their monthly subvention from the Oyo State Government.
General Manager Mutiu Adepoju told newsmen in Ibadan that the money, for the months of May and June, was paid to mitigate the lack of funds by the team to prosecute their matches in the premier league.
Adepoju said the money was paid after the government and the club’s management reached an agreement to resolve the problem and ensure the state-owned outfit was not relegated this season.
“We have been paid N10.6 million and I can tell you that we shall be getting this amount monthly without any hitch,’’ the ex-international said.
“The money was paid following the ugly incident of lack of funds that compelled the players to threaten to go on strike if the two months salaries owed them were not paid with other emoluments,’’ Adepoju said.
He added that the management would soon iron out the issue of the proposed increase in the club’s subvention which it was to have started receiving since the beginning of the year.
“Last week, the club had a prolonged discussion on many issues to improve on 3SC’s status and I can tell you that things are now looking good for the team,’’ the former Super Eagles midfielder said.
He said the club would now pay the players the arrears of two months salaries and their sign-on fees.
