17th NSF: Rivers Still Ahead …45 Gold, 17 Silver, 24 Bronze
The medals table released by the technical committee headed by Brig.-General Emmanuel Okaro, indicates that host Rivers State continue to lead the pack with 45 gold, 17 silver and 24 bronze, the defending champions, Delta State is second with 24 gold, 26 silver and 28 bronze, Edo is holding forth in the third place with 11 gold, 11 silver and 16 bronze.
Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, Ondo and Ogun, are trialing with 9 gold, 4 silver and 13 bronze, 9 gold and 12 bronze, 8 gold, 11 silver and 13 bronze and 7 gold, 9 silver and 17 bronze respectively.
Meanwhile, most states in the competitions are not happy with the slow pace of releasing the medal table as they believe the performance of their states are not reflected on time.
Six states are yet to register their presence in the medals table in the on-going 17th National Sports Festival in Port Harcourt.
Zamfara state lead the pack from the bottom, followed by Taraba, Sokoto, Kebbi, Gombe and Borno states, as at yesterday (Monday) noon.
