A board member of Kick-Boxing Federation and Chairman, Media Publicity Committee, Mr Dapo Oshotimehon, has made an appraisal of the ‘Garden City Games’ and opined that “it’s been interesting so far”.

Mr Dapo who spoke with reporters on Tuesday at the city hall – venue of the kick-boxing sports where he was officiating said in comparison with previous editions of the sports festival, especially the 16th edition in Kaduna which many rated as the best, there was a considerable improvement on the games.

“It’s been so interesting.    We’ve seen interest from the various participating states and we’ll see dedication on the part of the coaches, dedication on the part of the officials.  By and large, compared to what we saw at the last games, KADA 2009, the standard has been, strictly speaking, when the issue is kick-boxing, very, very high”, he said.

Mr Oshotimehon who is also the Group News Editor of Compass Newspapers continued that, “we’re actually happy about that and we’re actually looking forward to making more impressions…”

He regretted that kick-boxing would not feature at the next All African Games slated for Maputo, Mozambique in September because the host nation said, it did not have facility for it.

The board member noted that at the professional cadre, “we have world champions like Patria, she is a world champion.  She has defended her self three times … the last time was just last weekend.   We’re actually bringing kick-boxing to a very, very high level in Nigeria,” he said.
