17NSF: Group Tasks Team Rivers On Performance
Team Rivers has been tasked to ensure that more gold and other medals are won for the state inorder to justify the commitment of the state government.
The President-General of Rivers State Youth Assembly (RSYA) comrade Ezekiel Warigbani gave the charge at the weekend in Port Harcourt.
Warigbani, said that if the state’s sports team fail to come tops in most of the games, that it will be likened to betrayal considering the level of encouragement from the government.
He hinged his argument on that fact that Rivers is the host state, adding that it will be unfair if they fail to emerge overall winner.
Comenting on the quality of stadia in the state, he said that the facilities are of world-class standard, and appealed to the government to builed such facilities across the 23 local government councils in the state so as to encourage sports development at the grassroots.
“If the Governor builds stadium in each of the LGA, it will be a lot of encouragement to the youth as it will help to redirect their minds from negative activities,” he said.
