‘Ondo Reaping Investments In Sports’

The Ondo State House of Assembly, has attributed the excellent performances of Team Ondo in the on-going 17th National Sports Festival on the huge investment of the state government on the development of sports.

The chairman House Committee on Sports and Youth Development, Hon Afolabi Akinsiku said that in an interview with Tidesports  in Port Harcourt.

Ondo State is presently occupying fourth position on the medals table, a feat the House Committee chairman said is due to the effort of the state governor who is desirous of ensuring that his state remains the best in the festival.

In his world, “Ondo is 4th on the medal table, it is not unconnected with the sports loving governor Dr Olusegun Mimiko.

“He is investing heavily into sports and it has been  manifested in recent times and that is the result,” he said.

He cording to him, the Governor only invested in sports facilities, but ensure that the athletes are well taken care off, stressing that it cost the state a big fortune to comp them for five months.

The Assembly member who is also the chairman Ondo State Handball Association said that the state developed to bring the present crop of handballers to Port Harcourt to expose them.

“We see them as our dream team as the future team, so we want to expose them to festival if this nature.

“We have been building them from the scratch”, he said.
