TIMARIV, FRSC Charged On Traffic
The Rivers State Traffic Management Agency, TIMARIV, and the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, have been charged to be pro-active in the control of traffic in Port Harcourt and its environs, during the on-going Garden City Games.
Speaking with journalists at the NUJ Press Centre in Port Harcourt recently, Chairman LOC, Engr. Tele Ikuru, said challenges of free traffic flow in the state was enormous because of the numerous roads under construction.
He said the only way to tackle the challenges of traffic was for the concerned agencies to discharge their duties with a high sense of responsibility.
Apart from TIMARIV and FRSC, Ikuru said, volunteers will be deployed to assist at every junction to help ease traffic congestion in the city. He said they have all been trained on what to do to ensure free flow of traffic.
The LOC chairman also appealed to all road users to be cautious in their driving to nip in the bud the challenges of traffic congestion.
He said stiff penalty awaited defaulters of traffic, and called on Port Harcourt residents to give their maximum co-operation to the LOC to ensure a hitch free event in the state.
