The Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) has restated its resolve to continue to support government in its healthcare delivery scheme in the Niger Delta.

The Regional Community Health Manager, SPDC, Dr Babatunde Fakunle, gave this assurance at the relaunch of the organisation’s community Health Insurance Scheme in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.

He explained that SPDC has equipped and maintained the facilities at 27 Primary Health Centres in six states of the Niger Delta region.

According to him, “what we are doing is to support the healthcare development in the Niger Delta. We have built, equipped and maintained 27 health facilities in six Niger Delta States.

He further explained that the relaunch of the Community Insurance Scheme was to create awareness and sensitise the public on the importance and benefits of the scheme.

“What we are doing today is to sensitise the people and increase their awareness of the programme so that many more people would come and buy into the scheme. It is like changing the landscape of the medical practice in Nigeria.
