Police Identify Abductors Of Bayelsa Monarch

Authorities of Rivers State Police Command say they have identified and trail the identities of kidnappers of the Bayelsa monarch, King Oweipa Jones III of Ogboin Kingdom, reportedly abducted at Oduoha in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Monday, gunmen numbering about seven reportedly stormed the project site of the Bayelsa Monarch at Oduoha in a bizarre manner, tied up the workers before taking away the king known as the Ebenanawei of Ogbnoin Clan, to an unknown destination.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ben Ugwuegbulam, in a telephone interview with The Tide confirmed the abduction of the Bayelsa monarch, but said the security operatives are on the trail of the kidnappers.

DSP Ugwuegbulam said that the police was doing everything professional possible to rescue the kidnapped chief.

Already, he said the Rivers Police Command has deployed its men across the state to track down the abductors and rescue the freedom of the royal father.

Meanwhile, the police in Bayelsa State on Monday have rescued a six-yr-old boy from suspected ritualists in Yenagoa, the state capital.

According to report, the suspects had succeeded in tying the boy in a bag and putting him inside a car boot before speeding to their unsuspecting hideout.

But luck ran out of them when they approached a police check point at St. Peter’s axis of the busy Yenagoa/Mbiama road and reportedly offered kola (money) to them. The manner in which the money was offered, sources said attracted the suspicion of the police personnel who demanded for a proper search of the car boot.

The Tide leant that the suspected ritualists believing that the game was up, reportedly took to their heels into nearby bush before the policemen opened the boot and rescued the boy in the bag.

The Bayelsa PPRO could not speak on the matter because he was in a meeting, but a close aide who pledged anonymity confirmed the story and said the car used in the act has been towed to the police station.
