NULGE Urges Caution On Boko Haram
The spate of bomb blasts unleashed on the nation by Boko Haram Islamic sect has drawn the irk of the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) which has called for restraint and caution in tackling the menace.
Reacting in an interview with The Tide to this national security threat that has sent many to their untimely graves, President of NULGE, Rivers State Chapter, Barr. Franklin Ajinwo appealed to the fundamentalist Islamic group to exercise restrain in planting bombs and killing innocent and helpless Nigerians, and causing state of insecurity in the nation.
According to Barr. Ajinwo, “the so-called Boko Haram that takes people’s lives should know that it is very unfortunate”, they should know that people that are dying are human beings like themselves and at times are common man who may not even know what their problems are”.
“And as a matter of fact, we don’t even know the grievances of this Boko Haram. “They should tell us what their problems are, what it is, they are agitating. Let people know them, if it is the one government can address, they’ll address it”, he added.
The NULGE boss cautioned that “you (Boko Haram) has begin to create very unnecessary environment in the country. The people behind these things must, as a matter of fact, be very, very careful and get themselves restrained because one day, no matter how long they hide, the hands of the Law will catch up with them”.
Barr. Ajinwo urged the government to exercise caution in tackling the problem and rise up to the occasion, while viewing it as a challenge that must not be allowed to persist.
“It’s a challenge, a new challenge. The police and every other security group that is involved must make sure they live up to expectation to see how they can curb the excesses of the Boko Haram.
That’s the responsibility of government, protecting lives and property of the people. Possibly, they’re taking government unwares but now that they have seen it, they must find solution to it, how to contain them, how to reduce the excesses of this Boko Haram and try to unveil the people behind the group”.
