Longjam Preaches Peaceful Festival

As Rivers State hosts the 17th National Sports Festival, tagged Garden City Games 2011, the Deputy Governor of Plateau State, Ignatius Longjam, has called on the people to ensure peaceful atmosphere within the period.

Speaking to  The Tide in an interview at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa, Lingjam stressed the need for the people of Rivers State and every other persons to come together and make sure that peaceful atmosphere raigned in the state and those that will be in the state forth festival given the traditional hospitality the state is known for.

According to him, when the sports fiesta is concluded peacefully, the credit will go to the citizens of the state.

He said: “You know you don’t play with security when it comes to things or events like this. I thank the governor of Rivers State and the people for the peaceful atmosphere being enjoyed now in the state.”

The Plateau deputy governor noted that there is now peace in his state, a feat he said, was achieved after the government and security agents had come together to proffer solution to the crisis that rocked the state in recent time.
