In a bid to sensitize and create awareness for the forthcoming  17th National Sports Festival, (NSF)  to be hosted by Rivers State tagged: “Garden City Games 2011”, the mobilization Sub-Committee of Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the Festival over the weekend embarked on a road show.

Speaking with sports journalists shortly after the event, Christopher Chioma, the Assistant Secretary of the sub-committee said that the road show was 100 per cent successful as no accident was recorded.

He revealed that the committee would carry out three consecutive road shows before the commencement of the games, saying that second one would take place this Friday.

“I will comfortably say that today the road show was successful, we did not record any accident or encounter problems as the float progressed”,  Chioma said.

According to him, the major reason for the show was to create awareness and sensitize inhabitants of the state that such national programme is going to take place.

“We are poised to ensure that everybody in the state is aware of the fiesta that is coming”.

“We are also aware that there are areas we did not do well, we will certainly improve subsequently”, we added.

Also speaking, Christopher Fubara, Assistant Secretary, Protocol and Ceremonial Sub-Committee, who was part of the road show, described the event as a huge success.

He said the challenge they had was the recklessness of the Port Harcourt motorists, who caused some delays and obstructions.

Fubara used the forum to thank the Police and Road Safety personnel for creating the enabling environment for the free flow of the road show.
