Boska Football Tourney Postoned
Dotun Coker, Chairman, Organising Committee of the Boska Football Competition, on Tuesday in Lagos said the event would no longer begin on June 11 but on June 18.
Coker told The Tidesports source that the postponement was necessitated by the testimonial match being organised by Nwankwo Kanu at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos, on that date.
“We decided to move the date of the competition’s kick-off and seminar so as not to conflict with the testimonial match that Kanu has organised,” he said.
Coker also said that the seminar to educate the participants on the rules of the tournament and the draw for the participating teams would now hold on June 15.
The event will take place at the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Hall at the National Stadium, Lagos, he said.
The competition, now in its fifth edition, has cash rewards of N300,000, N250,000, N150,000 and N75,000 for the first, second, third and fourth positions respectively.
Tidesports source reports that the tournament will involve clubs from across the country that meet the registration conditions.
Yomi Peters, Chairman, Technical Committee of the competition, said that registration of teams was ongoing and that the closing date had yet to be announced.
“We are still registering teams until the committee meets and then decides when that will stop but definitely before June 15,” he said.
