Bayelsa Arrives With 485 Contingents

Team Bayelsa will be presenting a total of 485 athletes and officials during the 17th National Sports Festival Rivers State  starting from July 3, 2011.

A statement from the chairman of the State media committee for the festival, Mr. Clinton Thompson said the number comprises 252 males, 131 emales, 60 coaches, 29 secretaries and 13 helpers.

The State will be competiting in 17 events which includes soccer for female, wrestling, swimming, and hocky among others.

Meanwhile, a members of the State House of Assembly represent Southern Ijaw Constituency three, Mr. Dabriel Bralatei Igali has presented drugs worth over N500,000 to the team.

Presenting the drugs in the office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Sports Development, Mr. Igali said the purpose of the donation was to boost the medical department of the Team Bayelsa during the festival.

He said that, apart from the drugs, he and his colleagues would be present during the competition to cheer the team to victory in all the events they would be competing for.

Responding the Permsec, Dr. Godson Igiran expressed appreciation over the kind donation which he said will go a long way to assist the team, and promised that they will be used judiciously.

He used the opportunity to call on other prominent Bayelsans to come to the aid of the team, saying that this will boost theirmoral in making the task of winning lurrel for the state less cumbersome.
