Embattled former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Dimeji Bankole, will now appear before the court on Wednesday to face charges of financial mismanagement.

Bankole was arrested  by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission after almost a week of ignored invitations for questioning.

EFCC operatives had stormed Bankole’s residence in Abuja last Friday but were alleged to have been prevented from arresting the former Speaker over allegations of mismanagement of N10bn and other sundry financial matters.

A source within the EFCC confirmed that Bankole was billed to appear on Wednesday after the completion of all charge papers against him.

The former Speaker was arrested by operatives of EFCC, Sunday night, ahead of his intention to appear before the commission on Monday, to end a week of running battle with the anti-graft agency.

According to EFCC, Bankole has other plans against his original intention to surrender, and it said the former Speaker would be in their custody to answer questions on numerous fraud allegations against him.

EFCC’s source said the  former Speaker shunned two invitations to him within two weeks.
