Amaechi Swears In New Commissioners
The Rivers State Governor, Rt Hon Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi will this morning swear-in the six newly appointed commissioners.
A statement from the Acting Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Blessing Wikina enjoins all the nominees to be seated by 9.30 am at the Executive Chambers, Government House, Port Harcourt
According to the statement, each of the commissioners nominee is entitled to two guests at the venue of the ceremony.
It will be recalled that the Rivers State House of Assembly last week screened seven nominees forwarded before it by the Governor for appointment as commissioners.
The commissioners nominees include Dr Nyema Weli, Ibim Semenitari, Alice Lawrence Nemi, Patricia Simon-Hart. Others are former Chairman of Gokana Local Government, Hon Victor Giadom, Hon Augustine Nwokocha and Dr Chamberlin Peterside who was absent at the screening.
Four of the nominees, Augustine Nwokocha, a former member of the state House of Assembly and former Commissioner for Power, Ibim Semenitari, former commissioner for Information and Communications, Alice Nemi, former Commissioner for Education and Victor Giadom received accolades from the Assembly members over their outstanding performance in their previous outing.
