17th NSF: SWAN Appreciates RSG
The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), has expressed appreciation of the efforts of the Rivers State Government (RSG), to hosting an impressive 17th edition of the National Sports Festival (NSF), especially, the embarking on the construction of brand new ultra modern facilities for the purpose.
This formed part of the communiqué issued at the end of its National Full Council meeting held in Kaduna last Thursday.
According to the communiqué signed by Fred Edorie of Lagos SWAN, Uwem Ekoh of Akwa Ibom SWAN and Tony Akowe of Kaduna SWAN, “SWAN appreciates the efforts of the Rivers State government, the National Sports Commission, NSC and Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the fiesta considering the challenges of hosting and organising such an event.”
SWAN also urged the festival organisers to ensure adequate provision of media facilities and conducive environment for the effective coverage of the games.
The communiqué further noted that appointment of their members, Ishola Michael and Abubakar Wunti as Chief Press Secretary and Press Secretary to the governor and deputy governor of Bauchi State, respectively, and Timothy Daniel as the Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor of Kwara State and commended the governor and deputy governors of the states for the appointments.
The council also commended Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola for his assistance in completing the Lagos SWAN secretariat.
Among other things, it also restated its earlier position on the NFF/NFA crisis and urged all their complaints to the appropriate quarters rather than creating parallel bodies.
