Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has urged the newly appointed care-taker-committee chairmen of 21 local government areas in the state to be prudent and exhibit credible character while in the service.

Governor Amaechi gave this charge while swearing in the 21 CTC chairmen last Wednesday in Government House, Port Harcourt.

Represented by his deputy, Engr. Tele Ikuru, the Governor said the appointment would serve as a litmus test that would expose their capabilities or mediocrity, adding that the appointment was by divine providence which could “make or mar them based on their bad or good conduct while in the office”.

The state chief executive urged them to see the appointments as a privilege and a call to serve the people, adding that it is not for self enrichment, explaining that, as the local governments chief security officers, they should work with all the security operatives in their areas to protect live and property.

He warned them not to borrow money from any financial institution to run the councils, adding that they should not embark on any new project but can complete on-going ones in line with available funds.

Earlier, the Deputy Chief Registrar of the State Judiciary, Mr. H. Dagogo Jack had administered oaths of office and allegiance on the care-taker-committee chairman.
