RSFA Holds Draw For Super League
Draws for the 2011 Super League games amongst clubs in Rivers State were made yesterday by the state’s Football Association, FA and club owners at the state FA boardroom.
The FA board scribe, Ibigoni Benjamin-Akobo, said that the paring would be made on Monday.
About 17 teams registered for the tournament but 13 were divided into four groups A-D, group A has Port Harcourt City, Glodec FC, Hollando FC and “Ezy Du,” group B has Dinosane FC, praise centre and junior Amphibious FC.
Others are Ion Police FC, Atlantic FC and Famous FC in group C while group D has Greater Tomorrow, Omaka soccer team and soccer Fire FC.
According to Benjamin-Akobo, the teams would be involved in a first round-robin matches, which will see teams in group A play three matches each while B to D will play two matches each to determine the best team among the four groups, then the best four teams from each group would be paired to the remaining five clubs to play semi which will be the knock-out stage.
Then, the second semi and finals between the teams which will emerge from the second-semi.
The FA scribe noted that there will be no quarter final and third place matches.
Meanwhile, all matches would be played at the Port Harcourt Liberation Stadium, either in the main bowl or training pitch.
Team managers were advised to get their teams set ahead of the tournament, which is billed to commence on the 23rd of this month.
