The Rivers State Police Command, says relative peace has been restored in Dere and K-Dere communities in Gokana Local Government Area, which were thrown into renewed communal crisis that claimed the life of a middle aged woman and left several others injured.

The Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Ben Ugwuegbulam who stated this in an interview with The Tide last Thursday, said enough manpower has been deployed to the western areas to forstall further breakdown of law and order, urging the people of the two communities to continue to go about their normal business as the police, he said, is on top of the situation.

The police image maker stated that the body of woman killed in the crisis, Mrs. Kpogbari Kpetu had been deposited in a mortuary at Bodo the headquarters of Gokana Local Government Area.

The Tide learnt that the crisis broke out last Monday between the two neigbouring communities during a peace meeting brokered to foster a permanent solution to the protracted crises in the area.
