PDP Leads In Rivers LG Polls

The Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC), has so far released the results of the just-concluded chairmanship and councillorship elections in four local government areas with the People4s Democratic Party (PDP) winning all the positions

In Ahoada West, PDP won the chairmanship seat and councillorship  seats in all the 12 wards of the council.

The chairmanship candidate of the PDP polled 43,760 votes to beat the ACN candidate who scored 1, 314, while UNPP and PPP polled, 329  votes and  184 votes respectively.

In Akuku-Toru, the PDP chairmanship candidate scored 31, 106 votes to beat ACN candidate who scored 897 votes. APGA had 173 votes and FDP scored  119 votes. PDP  also won the 15 councillorship seats  out of the 17 wards in the local government.

RSIEC announced that elections were not held in two wards, wards 1 and 2, due to the court order of 19th May , 2011

In Tai Local Government Area, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chairmanship candidate was declared winner with 43,826 votes, APGA secured 93 votes while ACN and PPP scored 30 votes and 2 votes respectively.

The PDP also won nine councillorship seats out of 10 while elections  for Ward 4 were cancelled due to snatching of ballot boxes.

The commission also announced the results of Gokana Local Government Area where the ruling party, PDP polled 61, 626 votes  to beat APGA which scored 1, 939 while ACN scored 139 votes. The PDP also went ahead to secure all the 17 councillorship seats in the council.

The Director of Public Affairs, Mr Sam Woka who announced the results of the elections said other results would be out later today.
