A non-governmental organisation, Coalition for Good Governance (CGG) in Rivers State, has expressed delight in the outcome of the just concluded April elections.

Speaking with Rivers State House of Assembly Press Corp, the Chairman of the Coalition, Comrade Tamunopriye Tom-West said the free, fair and peaceful manner the elections were conducted depicted that the nation’s nascent democracy was getting rooted and grounded.

Comrade Tom-West congratulated all those who were elected especially Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, Governor of Rivers State and Rt. Hon. Tonye Harry, Speaker, Rivers State House of Assembly, wishing them God’s wisdom and strength.

He however, opined that for the nation’s democracy to gain more ground, experienced people should be allowed to pilot the affairs of the State, in this vein, he appealed that incumbent Speaker, Tonye Harry who has exhibited maturity and experience in the leadership of the Assembly should be allowed to continue his good works as the Speaker, adding that the present leadership of the Assembly should be given a chance to continue their good works in the Assembly.

Said he, continuity and persistency are the soul of democracy, noting that the peace and stability the Rivers State House of Assembly was noted for since 1999 should not be mortaged on the platter of change.
