First Military Governor of old Rivers State and Amyanabo of Twon Brass, King Alfred Diete-Spiff, has called on Governor Chibuike Amaechi to lay the foundation for a better future in the state.
King Diete-Spiff gave the charge during a chat with newsmen at the pull-out organised by the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) for retired Assistant Comptroller General of Immigration, Sir William Igoni-Park yesterday in Port Harcourt.
Following the governor’s victory in the just-concluded gubernatorial elections, King Diete-Spiff said the task ahead of him was to move the state to the next level.
He commended Governor Amaechi for his victory at the polls which he described as unprecedented.
He also noted that now President Goodluck Jonathan had won the Presidency, all eyes would be on him as he was expected to chart a new course for the country.
King Diete-Spiff while frowning at the laxity of legislators in the National Assembly urged the out-going members to ensure that they conclude the passage of any pending bill in order to give a fresh start for new ones.
The traditional ruler, however commended Sir Park for making the state and the Niger Delta proud during his service in the Nigerian Immigration and wished him a fruitful retirement.
Also commending Sir Park, the Amayanabo of Opobo Kingdom, King Dandeson Jaja expressed appreciation to the Nigeria Immigration Service for honouring their son.
King Jaja who spoke through Alabo J.J.Brown said the Kingdom of Opobo and the Niger Delta were proud of Sir Park following his sterling and dedicated service to the nation.
The Opobo monarch commended those who contributed to make the ceremony a success and prayed God to strengthen the retired immigration officer in the years ahead.
