Commissioner Tasks LGAs On Dev
The Rivers State Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Dr. Tammy Danagogo, has charged local councils to mobilise communities in their different domains to solve problems relating to the development of infrastructure and human capacity in the state.
Dr. Danagogo, who gave the charge at Nchia, Eleme, midweek, during a project inspection visit to the Local Government Area, said all human endeavours are targeted at development.
According to him, the local councils should be able to map out strategies of development to move the standard of infrastructure and human capacity to better level.
The commissioner, who was represented by Mr. Okere C. Okara, Director of Local Government Affairs in the ministry, explained that “we are here to supervise, monitor galvanise your council on activities and projects carried out previously to ascertain areas where human capacities are lacking.
Okara had earlier informed the Eleme Local Government Area officials that the visit is aimed at ensuring that available resources are put to proper use for positive impact on the people.
In his response, the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Eleme Local Government Area, Mr. Kammy Micah Ngelale, noted that the function of government at any level is to ensure effective service delivery to the people.
“Every good government must ensure that the infrastructure and human capacity development activities remain its priority to better the lives of people in the area”, he said.
The Eleme Local Government boss, however, pledged to use the available resources of the council to better the lives of the citizenry.
