Cleric Wants Inclusion Of Women In Governance
The wife of the General Superintendent of Assemblies of God Church, Rev. Sharon Emeka, has called for the inclusion of women in national decision-making processes.
Emeka, the National Director of Women Ministries of the church, made the call in Enugu when she led the executive members on a courtesy call to the The Tide Zonal Office.
She explained that involving women in decision-making processes would boost effectiveness of governance, particularly in areas of poverty alleviation.
While congratulating President Goodluck Jonathan, Vice-President Namadi Sambo and Gov. Sullivan Chime of Enugu on their victories at the polls, Emeka advised them to give priority attention to projects that would impact on the lives of the poor.
She urged newsmen to partner with her organisation in the propagation of the gospel of peace to calm all frayed nerves that resulted from the recent electoral contests.
“This will help to stop the rising spate of violence, especially in the northern part of the country,” she added.
Our correspondent Zonal Manager, Mr Tony Nezianya, who received the delegation, informed them of the multi-media operations of the agency, which he said were aimed at achieving global acceptance for the organisation.
He assured the women of the agency’s cooperation in publicing their programmes.
