17th NSF: NWKF Conducts Tests For Judges
The Nigeria Wushu-Kungfu Federation (NWKF) has said that it will conduct a test to determine eligible judges to officiate at the National Sports Festival in Port Harcourt in June.
The NWKF President, Ojo Adelusi, told newsmen in Lagos that the test would come immediately after a refresher course for the judges.
Adelusi said that the refresher course would take place in Port Harcourt between May 22 and May 28.
According to him, the course and test are part of the federation’s preparations for the NSF.
Adelusi said that only the successful ones would officiate at the festival.
“The programme is to make sure that the officials are abreast of the latest rules, and that is why an examination will be conducted immediately after to select qualified judges, ’’ he added.
The president said that the seminar was for male and female judges in the senior, middle and junior categories.
“Only those who are up-to-date with their financial dues to the federation will be allowed to participate in the programme.
“However, others who are not will be given the opportunity to pay their dues during the registration,’’ he added.
Adelusi also said that the National U-18 Coaching Clinic/Championships earlier scheduled to hold between May 9 and May 14 in Abuja had been postponed.
“We had to shift it till further notice,’’ he said, adding that the reason for the postponement was to avoid athletes sustaining injuries before the forthcoming festival.
“We don’t want a situation where athletes will be denied the opportunity of taking part in the festival because of injuries sustained at the championships,’’ he said.
