PH Monorail, First In Africa – Secondus
The National Organising Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Uche Secondus, has described the Port Harcourt monorail project being embarked upon by the Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi-led administration as first of its kind in Africa when completed.
Speaking to The Tide during an interview at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa, Prince Secondus, said that Governor Amaechi is courageous to have embarked on such gigantic project that has not been handled by the Federal Government and even in the African continent.
He observed that the monovail, when completed, will place Rivers State on the world map of development as it will be the first of its kind in Africa, saying that there is only one of it existing in Dubai.
Prince Secondus said: “I salute the courage of Governor Amaechi to build the monorail which even the Federal Government has not done. Even in South Africa and Africa as a whole, there is none of such project”.
According to him, “for a state such as Rivers State to embark on such project, all of us should pray for it to come to fruition”, saying that no one should nurse the negative belief that it will not be completed and put in use.
“Our prayers should be that the project is complete so that what we don’t have in Africa will come to Port Harcourt and the world will come to see it”, he stressed, pointing out that the monorail will tremendously reduce traffic congestion and ease movement in the state capital.
Secondus enjoined residents of Port Harcourt to appreciate the Governor’s efforts at developing the state through provision of infrastructure and other amenities, noting that anyone criticising the governor’s vision does not wish the state well.
“Somebody has to start something that is new in Africa and Amaechi has started it. It’s a revolution that other states will have to copy. I believe it will be completed within the next four years if Amaechi is re-elected”, he declared.
On the just-concluded PDP Presidential campaign rally, the organising secretary said it was civilised and the best so far organised in the history of this country as it reeled out the entire manifesto of the party to be marketed to Nigerians.
