Authority Distributes Vehicles, Motorcycles To Workers

As part of efforts  to encourage agricultural development, Katsina State Agriculture and Rural Development Authority (KATARDA) says it has distributed  eight Toyota Hilux vans and 100 motorcycles to its extension workers.

The Managing Director of the authority Dr. Abba Jamo stated this at a training workshop organised for Fadama III Component Service Providers.

He explained  that the vehicles and motorcycles  were distributed to the extension workers to  enhance their services in the rural areas.

The beneficiaries include extension workers in Ajiwa, Funtua, and Dutsinma zonal offices pointing out that  the authority recently won an award from the Bill and Melinda creates  foundation for producing hybrid  maize seeds.

According to him the achievement has boosted production in the 34 local government areas of the state.

In his remarks, the state co-ordinator of Fadama III protects Alhaji Magagd Abubakar said the programme targets poverty reduction through the empowerment of rural communities to achieve food security.

He lauded the state government for prompt payment of its counterparts funds for the projects.

It was gathered that a total of 70 Fadama facilitators and agricultural  extension  workers from the 20 participatory  local government areas attended the training.
