The gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) in Imo, Chief Rochas Okorocha, said he was on a rescue mission in the state.

Okorocha said this while addressing residents of the state at the Rochas Foundation Centre (RFC) in Owerri after touring three local governments areas.

He promised to introduce free education, reopen Evan Enwerem University and implement the new minimum wage for civil servants if elected as governor.

The aspirant, who decried the state of decay in the state, recalled the administration of the late Chief Sam Mbakwe and promised to begin from where he stopped.

“Mbakwe is my yardstick and since he left office, there has not been any government in the state,” he said.

He said the state was now renown for hardship, dilapidated infrastructure, non-payment of workers salaries and youth unemployment.

The Tide source reports that Okorocha started the tour from Owerri Municipal Council and proceeded to Owerri West and Njaba council areas.

He ended the tour at the RFC on Okigwe road in Owerri where he addressed the people.

Okorocha said he chose to address the people at RFC because it was the centre that integrated his covenant with God, adding that the same covenant was still binding.

He noted that his covenant with God to help the people started 11 years ago when he built the RFC in four states to provide free education to the poor.

Okorocha said he had sponsored more than 40,000 Nigerians through his foundation, adding that many eventually became university graduates.
