Enugu APGA Pledges Tourism, Industries
The Enugu State chapter of the All Progressive Grand Alliance plans to promote tourism and industries in Enugu State if voted into power in April.
Mr Obinna Obiegue, the gubernatorial candidate of the party, made the promise yesterday in Enugu in an interview with newsmen.
Obiegue said that the party would take the state to the next level in terms of education, employment generation, agriculture, road construction.
He said APGA would also improve on pensioner’s welfare, as well as the provisio11 of potable water for all.
According to him, many tourists’ centres like the Polo Park, Presidential Hotel, the Zoo and some major industries have been forgotten in the state.
“There is currently no zoo in Enugu. This is one of the tourists’ attractions that bring people to Enugu, capable of promoting internally generated revenue (IGR) for the state,” Obiegue said.
He said that it was sad that the Polo Park was destroyed to make way for a shopping complex that had not been completed, while the popular Ngwo Park had been turned into a mechanic village.
“Why must we destroy things we have, to erect new ones when we can improve on the old ones and erect new ones?” Obiegue asked.
“I do not understand why anybody will pull down structures, when there are so many undeveloped land in Enugu State,” he said.
He said that his administration, if elected, would revive comatose industries in order to employ Enugu indigenes.
Obiegue said, “lf we assume office in April, we will revive many industries, especially the steel rolling mills in the state.
“These things are very simple to achieve because we can invite foreign investors from China, assign property to them on lease and things will begin to happen.”
. He, however, urged the good people of Enugu State to vote for APGA in the elections for good governance.
“People of Enugu State should rise up to say that bad governance is not acceptable, by giving us a chance and see us transform the state in the next four years,” Obiegue said.
