Botched US Tourney Denied Stars A Chance – Siasia
Nigeria coach, Samson Siasia has said that the botched tourney in the United States of America denied several players from the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) a chance to stake a claim in his main squad.
“My one regret is that I had planned to use the tournament to discover two, three more players from the home-based lads for the main team of the Super Eagles. I would have to wait for another opportunity to do so now”, lamented a very disappointed Siaisa.
The coach also heaped the whole blame on the botched tournament on the door steps of the FIFA match agent Pius Oleh.
I am disappointed that Pius (Oleh) couldn’t wrap up the organisatioal aspectss of the competition well. I have no option than to come back home with my players to start full reparations for the all – important Africa Nations Cup qualifier against Ethiopia”, he said.
Sincerely speaking, the Nigeria Football Federation should be praised for the way and manner they have been working extremely hard to get the team enough quality friendly matches and also their support to expose the home-based players to international tournaments”.
He added: “I wish to assure everyone that we won’t disappoint against Ethiopia and with hard work we would qualify for the 2012 Nations Cup”.
