Speaking at Oroworukwo in Port Harcourt, Governor Amaechi said he was prepared to sacrifice his position as Governor to make Nigeria great as we were in dire need of purposeful and selfless leadership and only the commitment of its leaders could save the situation.

He said already the PDP government is leading the way in providing qualitative governance at both the states and national levels, emphasising that “at this point in our national life, Nigerians need to vote for true and qualitative leaders that are committed to providing good governance”.

Governor Amaechi, who is also the PDP flag bearer, reeled out a plethora of achievements his government has recorded in three and half years in the state, stressing that the electorate should be careful not to vote candidates that would bring the state backwards.

At Wards Two, Nine and Fourteen in Port Harcourt Local Government Area, the Governor told PDP supporters to close ranks and deliver the party candidates in all the elections, saying that the performance of the party in the state was there for the people to see.

Governor Amaechi used the opportunity to introduce candidates of the party in the area to the electorate and warned them against complacency.

He promised to rehabilitate the Abuloma-Okuru-Ama road, which is in a deplorable situation, noting that government was doing its best to spread development to all parts of the state.

Responding, party elders in the wards said they were committed to the victory of the party in all elections coming up next month and urged the governor to continue the good work he had already started in the state.

Meanwhile, as Governor Chibuike Amaechi re-election campaign arrives Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area, today, the Rivers State South East Students Assembly has endorsed the governor and Hon. Magnus Abe as their candidates for the general elections.

The endorsement is coming one week after the youth of  the same Senatorial district had endorsed the two at Bori, the  headquarters of the senatorial district.

Speaking at a congress attended by about 5,000 students from Khana, Gokana, Eleme, Tai, Oyigbo, Opobo/Nkoro and Andoni, the president of the National Union of Ogoin Students, Rivers South East Students Assembly, Comrade Bie Emmanuel Goteh said the students took the decision after assessing the performance of the present administration in boosting and placing education as a priority..

The governor explained that the PDP and the state government under his leadership had demonstrated enough commitment in giving the state purposeful leadership which candidates of other parties can not change.

The grand finale of the PDP campaign in Port Harcourt is expected to attract maximum crowd following the unprecedented turn out at the various local government areas that hosted the campaign rallies.

Similarly, the grand finale of the rally is expected to have the characteristics of a carnival as the different support groups, council areas  and professional bodies rooting for the governor’s re-election would be on parade to identify with the man of their choice.

Another significant thing noticed throughout the rallies was the peaceful atmosphere which the campaigns enjoyed and the organisational efficiency which the director-general of the re-election campaign, Chief Nyesom Wike brought to bear on the entire campaign.

Chief Wike was said to have propounded the theory of “Aye ne-eli” meaning your eyes must be on ground and operation win your ward while advising the electorate not to waste their  votes but to vote all PDP candidates.
