Sports Promoter To Introduce PH Football League
A grassroot football promoter Barrister Tonnic Ibebulachi Anoruewhom said he would introduce Port Harcourt Football competition that will surpass both the English and national leagues.
Barrister Anoruewhom, who disclosed this while speaking with newsmen in his office in Port Harcourt said the tournament would be competed by the 20 wards in the local government area.
He said corporate bodies or individual could raise a team for the contest, which would be played on preliminar basis at the various ward levels to pick a team that would represent that ward in the competition.
According to Barrister Anoruewhom who is also a chairmanship aspirant in Port Harcourt City local government said he would partner with some corporate organisations to make the league thick, since football and sports in general had become a source of income to many families.
“Between 1999 to date, I have been the sole sponsor of the Elekahia Inter-Community Football Competition, held annually for gifted talents to display their skills, thereby providing an arena for youths in the community to channel their energies into productive activities”.
I also involved in the Annual Inter-local Government Football Competition between Port Harcourt and Obio-Akpor councils since 2000 to 2006″, adding that he would use his wealth of experience to ensure that the youths in the local government area were carried along through sports.
He noted that with God on his side and with the support of the people of Phalga, he would put his vision and aspiration into viable programme.
