Siasia Faces Domestic League Players’ Challenges

After spending nearly a month with domestic players, Nigeria coach Samson Siasia says their biggest challenge is being slow on the uptake in addition to a lack of goalscoring ability.
“The biggest challenge would be their level of comprehension. They are a bit slow. And then they are finding it hard to score goals. We create chances but they cannot score. We have started working on goalscoring now. That’s what most of our sessions now are focused on.”
However, he did say the players were learning and doing well as a team. “Collectively they are playing well as a team.”
Siasia also took the time to make it clear that only players getting first team football would get a shot at his team.
“The players have to be playing regularly for their clubs, otherwise, they won’t get in the team.”
