Peoples Party of Nigeria (PPN), gubernatorial candidate in Bayelsa State, Kelvin Alagoa, says the incumbent governor of the state, Chief Timpre Sylva of PDP does not  deserve another tenure.

Consequently, he had called for the governor to  step down from contesting the April poll.

Alagoa said he was moved to give the advice because  Chief Sylva had failed  to  deliver  the dividends of democracy to the people of the state in his first four years in office.

The PPN flag bearer noted that there were numerous evidences that Sylva   could not impact meaningful development on  the  state as poverty and insecurity were continuously ravaging the state.

Speaking to newsmen in Yenagoa, Mr Alagoa  decried the lack of infrastructural development in the state  in  the past four years , noting that if  voted as governor , he would ensure  rapid  development through establishment of people-oriented projects.

“Bayelsans are lamenting the involvement of Governor Timipre Sylva in the 2011 gubernatorial race, because he had failed to delivere the dividend of democracy to the electorates.

“Bayelsa State government has failed to provide potable water, upgrade education and refurbsh dilapidated hospitals and health centres to improve lives.

“If voted  into office, I  will  partner with private investors to develop the state and create jobs for the teeming youths of the state to curb militancy and unemployment” he said.

“According to Alagoa, the state   needed  an active  governor that has the fear of God  to rule the state for better in order to attract even development to the people.

“Governor Sylva is only praising himself  in the  print and electronic  media . No Bayelsan is praising him. The   Rivers State  governor, Chibuike Amaechi is being  praised by his people because he  is a performing Governor. I urge  Sylva  to step down for the progress of Bayelsans and those unborn”, Alagoa continued.

He alleged that  government in the last four years  had neglected  the agricultural sector in the state, stressing  that  fishing expeditions  have been abandoned.

For Alagoa, the State Government   needs  to revamp  the agricultural sector to improve on food production for the masses.
