PDP Rally Stampede …Panel To Submit Report, Next Week

The panel investigating the cases of stampede and death at the South-South presidential rally in Port Harcourt last Saturday, says its report would be forwarded to the Inspector-General of Police next  Wednesday.

Chairman of the panel and an Assistant Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar who gave the hint yesterday said the body has commenced committee sitting.

At the committee stage, he stated that all the memoranda, exhibits and oral witness would be studies appropriately, adding that three memoranda submitted during the public hearing were undergoing scrutiny.

AIG Abubakar disclosed that about 29 witnesses appeared before it with nine exhibits received and three memoranda submitted before it during its sitting.

He stated that on the first day of the panel, it received nine witness and on the second day 11 were received, while the third and fourth day recorded seven and nine exhibits respectively.

The panel which was set up by the Inspector-General of Police on Monday came following a directive from President Goodluck Jonathan who expressed sadness over the stampede that led to the death of about 11 persons mostly women.
