PDP Ouster Ogbeh Calls For Mergera
Chief Audu Ogbeh, the Chairman, Manifestos Committee, Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), says the merging of political parties is critical to avoid a one-party state.
Ogbeh told newsmen yesterday in Abuja that “a political party alone cannot really dislodge a ruling party’’.
He said that the ACN alliance talk with the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) would have been stronger if it was
concluded.
“We have been talking about it since 2005 and it has not really worked; it would have been a great thing but it has not happened.
“The talk will continue, I imagine even beyond the elections, but for now, a real alliance or merger is impossible because of technical reasons.
“We cannot merge now because there are procedures to be followed,” Ogbeh, who is also the Director-General Ribadu Campaign Organisation said.
He added that political parties would for now “go to the battle front to face the electorate’’.
Chief Tony Momoh, CPC National Chairman, in an earlier interview with newsmen, had debunked media reports that the party‘s alliance talk with ACN had collapsed.
“The fact is that talks were on and talks are still on, even yesterday my team attended talks, the fact is that the media is interested in reporting what is a disturbance of the routine and the collapse is a disturbance of the routine,’’ Momoh said.
