NCSU Tasks Women Exco On Productivity
The Nigeria Civil Service Union (NCSU), Rivers State Chapter has charged its women Executive Committee to be productive in order to meet the demands and challenges of the union.
Speaking during the reconstitution of its Women Executive Committee to lead female members of the union, the state Chairman of NCSU, Comrade O.T. Lilly-West said the newly elected members should always have the interest of the union at heart in the discharge of their duties.
Administering the oath of office and allegiance to elected members, he said his Exco “will continue to carry women along in its bid to reposition the union in the State”.
While appealing to members of the union to support the Women Executive Committee to achieve set goals, Lilly-West said, it is only by doing so that the union would be taken to great heights.
He explained that the Women Executive Committee of the union was an important provision of the union’s constitution as the chairman of the women committee was automatically a member of the State Administrative Council (SAC) of the union.
The NCSU boss, who disclosed that discussions and negotiations with the State Government over the payment of the new minimum wage was in progress, expressed optimism that the new wage would be paid at the end of February, 2010.
In her post–election speech, the Chairman of the Women Executive Committee, Comrade Florence Bob-Manuel thanked the state chairman and other members of the union for the confidence reposed in her, assuring that the committee “will work tirelessly to generate new ideas, new possibilities that will move the union and committee forward”.
The women leader stressed the need for teamwork, and commended the present Exco of NCSU for effectively championing the cause of the union in the State.
