The movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has hailed the appointment of the wife of the former Biafra leader, Bianca Ojukwu, as the Senior Special Assistant to the president on Diaspora Affairs.

In a statement signed by the Director of Information, MASSOB, Mr Uchenna Madu and made available to newsmen, the body described the appointment as a welcomed development and expressed its absolute acceptance.

MASSOB welcomes the appointment of our Lolo, Bianca Ojukwu into president Jonathan’s cabinet. It is a good development and we accept it and advice her to do so “it said.

The movement noted that the forthcoming April general elections would have a part to play in the course of the MASSOB and called on its members to participate activity in it.

The statement said “our participation now does not mean that we have abandoned the struggle for Biafra actualisation or  that the leadership has derailed. We are employing every available means to better the future of over 40 million Biafrans.”

While noting that every struggle has its methodologies, the movement said it views this year’s elections as another platform to showcase its numerical strength in establishing Igbo interest by using its voters’ registration card to elect men with Biafra blood in their veins revealing that more than 16 million MASSOB members have already registered for the card.

It said “our subject matter is Biafra, the very reason and essence of participating in this year’s election is that MASSOB wants to establish credible persons, People of integrity without questionable characters, Igboman and women with Igbo interest in the nation’s seats.”

It further maintained that the Uwazmike led administration of MASSOB would never abandon, retreat,  surrender, compromise or lose focus on the non-violent agitation for Biafra actualization.
