Lagos State FA Chairman, Seyi Akinwunmi, has promised to focus on grassroots football development in the state.

Akinwunmi told newsmen in Lagos that he would improve football facilities in various parts of the state and work toward ensuring that a club from the state gained promotion to the premiership during his tenure.

Akinwunmi was the only candidate for the chairmanship post in the elections held recently  at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.

He promised to run a transparent, responsible, effective and modern administration to make the game attractive to sponsors and investors if elected.

The chairman  promised to put in place an Information Technology (IT)-based administrative system and create a data base for players, coaches and referees to avoid age cheating in Lagos.

Akinwunmi pledged to ensure coaches and referees were trained during his tenure, adding that he would work toward providing adequate security for fans, players and officials at all football match venues.

“ My desire to head the Lagos State FA is to actualise a dream to bring positive change to Lagos football and change the adverse perception of football administration so that watching football matches at the stadium can once again be an attractive option for families,” he added.
