Staff of the Enugu State House of Assembly has organised a prayer session to usher in the 2011 legislative year.

The service conducted at the legislative building, was presided over by Rev Fr Peter Oforji, resident priest, St Mary’s Catholic Church, Uwani.

He urged them to allow God to direct their path and not to derail because of the prevailing socio-economic situation in the country.

“He guided by God and Be truthful in dealing with others without compromise. Be righteous and accept Christ as you enter the new year.

“Work together in one spirit and in service of God and humanity to achieve your set goals” he said.

Oforji enjoined them to brace up to the challenges ahead, especially during the elections and stressed the need for them to participate in the ongoing voter registration.

Mr Christopher Chukwu, the Clerk of the House, said the service was organised to rededicate the workers to Christ, pray for peace for staff and their families.

“We organised this prayers to invite the presence of God for good things to happen in this Assembly,” Chukwu explained.

However, none of the 24 law makers attended the event.
