Group Urges Imo Indigenes In Diaspora To Register

Imo Indigenes in the diaspora under the anspices of the Ohakim 2011 Consolidation Mandate Group in the Diaspora have called on Imo indigenes and all Nigerians abroad, to take the advantage of the one week extension of the voter registration and come  home and register.

The group, in a statement also commended the chairman of the Independent  National Electoral Commission (INEC) Prof. Attahiru Jega for extending the voter registration for one week.

The statement signed by Dr. Acho Orabuchi, National Chairman, Marshal Madu national vice chairman and Clement Onyenemendu national secretary urged Imo State Indigenes both home and abroad to participate actively in the electoral process and register massively.

The Group also called church leaders to also mobilise their congregation to fully participate in the on going voter registration, adding  that it is the moral obligation of the spiritual leaders to ensure that their followers, Christians and Muslims participate in the electoral process, particularly in Imo State.

The Group however, called on community leaders and traditional rulers to also encourage members of their communities and towns to embrace the exercise.

The Ohakim 2011 Consolidation Mandate Group, The Tide gathered comprises intellectuals of Imo State origin who reside in various parts of United States, Canada and other parts of Europe.

The organisation is currently mobilising support for Governor Ikedi Ohakim for his re-election come April general polls
