Ex-Eagles Play For Uche Okafor

Funeral rites for the deceased former international Uche Okafor began yesterday in his home state of Imo State, Nigeria.

The body of the late Uche, who died in mysterious circumstances in January, was flown home on Tuesday and laid in state at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri.

A commemorative football match between an Imo All Stars team and Uche’s former Super Eagles team mates was scheduled to be played immediately after, before the body will be taken to his hometown of Ubomiri in Mbaitoli Local Government Area.

Nigeria coach Samson Siasia is among a high-profile list of former Super Eagles players who will attend. Others include Ben Iroha, Mutiu Adepoju, Alloy Agu, Austin Eguavoen, Daniel Amokachi, Ike Shorunmu, Alloy Agu and Victor Ikpeba.
