Former Commissioner for Environment in Rivers State, and PDP flagbearer for House of Representatives, Barrister Kingsley Chinda, has said that through proper legislations that have human face, Nigeria will be put on international limelight.

Mr Chinda who is to represent Obio/Akpor  Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, noted that if elected, he will use his wealth of experience and knowledge as former environment commissioner to add more pep to the country’s legislations.

In an interview with The Tide at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa, the PDP flagbearer declared: “I am fully aware that some laws in the country are not people-friendly, I will add green touch to the laws we have in this country so that we begin to consider the environmental aspect of this nation in order to salvage the ailing Niger Delta region and Nigeria at larger”.

He accused the current National Assembly and House of Representatives of being too involved  in politics, thereby making laws that are favourable to them than the people’s interest.

According to him, “laws should be made in the interest of the generality of the people.

I think laws should be made for today and tomorrow, not for an individual, so you don’t need to look at a person and come out with a law that favour the person in a particular situation but should stand the test of time”.

Mr Chinda noted that although there are some hardworking lawmakers in the National Assembly, the need to inject new lawmakers would boost the lawmaking process in the country and bring about changes in the society.

The former environment commissioner spoke of his chances of winning at the polls, saying he has bright chances and solicited the cooperation of all to achieve his political dream.
