Educationist Calls For FG Reforms

An Educationist, Comrade Chris Obieje has called on the  Federal Government to carry out a holistic reform in the nation’s educational system with emphasis on science and technology, as well as entrepreneurship development.

Making the call in a statement made available to newsmen in Enugu, an Educationist and Social Commentator, said such reform would not only generate employment for thousands of unemployed graduates, but would also impact on the entrepreneurial skills on Nigerian youths.

Leaders International, expressed regret that “The present situation where we graduate students without adequate knowledge of science and technology, will continue to create problem in the system, and pose major hindrance to the labour market as the unemployment rate blows higher in the country”.

He, however, praised President Goodluck Jonathan for demonstrating to Nigerians the importance of technology by informing the world through his Face Book, as well as his intention to run for Presidency.

The educationist also expressed happiness that Nigerians are already enjoying the dividends of good leadership under Dr. Goodluck Jonathan considering that the country did not witness fuel scarcity during the just-concluded Christmas and New Year festivities, “the first time for several years”.

As part of their contribution to mobilise Nigerians during the just concluded voter registration exercise, Comrade Obieje explained that members and friends of the NGO world wide were mandated to text to at least twenty members of their family and friends the importance of the registration, adding that only throughthat means that good leaders could emerge at both the state and community levels.

The group also made it known in its statement, that it was looking forward to being among the International Non-partisan bodies that would monitor the April 2011 elections in Nigeria, using the forum to applaud several reforms already carried out by president Jonathan to improve the welfare of Nigerians.
