Three hundred and twenty six participants last Saturday graduated from a month-long human capacity development programme in Opobo Town, headquarters of Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Organised by the International Centre for Population Development Activities (CIPA) and sponsored by Hon Boma Brown, a businessman and philanthropist, the programme trained the participants in computer  operation, catering, bead/hat making, cosmetology, solar energy technology, basic electrical and satellite dish installations, business development skills and environment sanitation among others.

Speaking at the occasion which attracted a large crowd at the King Jaja Monument Square, the Executive Director of CIPA Mr Joseph Yongough said the 326 graduands was the single highest number sponsored by an individual, of the about 15,000 trainees produced by the organisation since its inception.

Yongough commended the sponsor for committing several millions of Naira in the sponsorship of the programme which has afforded the beneficiaries skills to be self-employed.

He however, regretted that out of the 500 participants targeted by the sponsorship, only 326 persons availed themselves of the free skills acquisition programme.
