The Director-General, Sullivan Chime 2011 Gubernatorial Campaign Organisation , Dr, Festus Uzor, has declared  Governor Chime as the only Govership candidate under the flag of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The D-G made the clarification during a Media Parley put together for newsmen in the state by the Chief of Staff , Government House, Enugu, Mrs. Ifeoma Nwobodo.

Dr Uzor’s reaction, follows recent statement credited to  an aspirants,  Anayo Onwuegbu, who alleged contested and lost the party’s primaries to Governor Chime, but now parads himself as the authentic candidate of PDP in the state .

Onwuegbu, who allegedly scored only two votes during the PDP Governorship primaries held at the Michael Okpra square Enugu, on January 12, 2011, had last weekend told newsmen in Enugu that he remains the authentic candidate of the ruling party in the coal city state.

According to Dr. Uzor, who is also the State Commissioner for Education, “ such claim holds no water. It is laughable because for us, we have gone beyond ticket issue. The party knows who is their flag bearer in Enugu State.

What the campaign organisation of the Governor is currently doing now is mapping out strategies on how to realise the Governor’s second term ambition so as to enable him consolidate on the good works he started three and half years ago.”

The D-G, however, advised party members and electorates in the state not to lose sleep over such false claim by certain desperate politician’s, stressing that the party’s constitution and electoral acts were very clear on issues concerning candidates.

The Governor, he continued, had in the last three and half years he took over the mantle of leadership of the state, touched the lives of the people, including rural dwellers through his 4 point agenda.

Also speaking earlier, the chief host, Mrs Nwobodo thanked Journalists in he state for their support and co-operation with the Chime- led administration in the state, noting  that as watch dogs of the society, the media owe it as a duty to inform the public accurately about government programmes and policies.

The Chief  of Staff, who was accompanied to the event by the Commissioner for Inter Ministerial Affairs, Prince Okezie Nwanjoku, Senior Special Adviser to Governor Chime on Diaspora Matters , Dr. Jude Akubuilo, his SSA on Media and Communication, Barrister Chukwudi Achife as well as his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Dan Nwomeh, expressed happiness that the present  administration had really done its best in terms of infrastructural development in the state.

According to her, the administration’s 4 – point agenda was aimed at addressing the age- long problems confronting various sectors of the state economies, expressing optimism that if given another four years mandate in 2011, Governor Chime “would definitely take the entire state to the next level”.
