Boxing Tournament Showcases Talents

An assistant coach with the Lagos State Sports Council, Wasiu Bisiriyu, has said that the “Saturday Boxing Show” has helped amateur boxers in the state to develop their skills.

Bisiriyu told  Tidesports source recently in Lagos that the competition was good for developing boxing at the grass roots and for the boxers to show their talent.

He said that his boxers were already in good shape for any  tournament.

“We are always happy with the show because it has given our boxers the opportunity to be in good form and to showcase their skills,” Bisiriyu said.

He said that 14 male and four female boxers would slug it out in the nine- bout competition.

Tidesports source  reports that the show, aimed at discovering talents at the grass roots, is sponsored by the Lagos State Boxing Hall of Fame (LSBHF).

Speaking with newsmen, Olawale Edun, LSBHF chairman, promised that the organisation would continue with the sponsorship of the tournament.

He urged fans across the state to keep supporting the competition until the lost glory of boxing in the state was rekindled.
