Army Sets Up New Brigade At Ohafia

The General Officer Commanding the 82nd Division of Nigerian Army, Enugu, Major General Sarkin Yaki Bello announced the establishment of a new Brigade, 14 Brigade, by the Nigerian Army in the South-East with headquarters at Ohafia.

Major-General Bello who disclosed this at the Government House, Awka when he paid a courtesy call on Governor Peter Obi said the establishment of the new brigade was in line with the vision of the Chief of Army staff towards the transformation of the army to meet contemporary challenges some of which were kidnapping and bombing.

The commander who was in the state to formally introduce himself to the governor, said he had been told of the governor’s concern for security and all the assistance he has been offering his men.

Meanwhile, the Federal Government is to find a lasting solution to admission-related bottlenecks created by the prolonged disruption of academic activities in the state owned universities in the South-East region of Nigeria.

As a result, the Registrar of Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Professor Dibu Ojerinde said in a press statement that the Board had scheduled on all- inclusive meeting of all stakeholders.

They include proprietors of the institutions, the state ministries of Education, pro-chancellors, Vice-Chancellors and National Universities Commission.
