Amaechi Assures Electorate On Credible Polls

Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi has assured the electorate in the state of a transparent, free and fair elections in the April 2011 general election.

Rt. Hon. Amaechi gave the assurance while speaking at a youth forum in Port Harcourt organised by the Ministry of Youths Development.

The Rivers State chief executive enjoined the youths to exercise their franchise wisely and advised them to eshew violence  allow themselves to be used by desperate politicians.

Governor Amaechi who berated the activities of some politicians who wanted to cause trouble in the state said the state government would not fold its hands to allow the reign of lawlessness.

The governor said his administration  would ensure that the peace and security being enjoyed by the citizenry was not broken addng that development can only thrive in a peaceful atmosphere.

On what his administration is doing to raise the fortunes of youths, Amaechi asserted that his administration was poised to raise the capacity of youths to compete favourably with their counterparts in other states.

He further assured of the resolve of the government to provide employment, by creating a conducive environment for business to thrive.

Earlier on, commissioner for Youths Development, Hon Felix Nwaeke charged the young people to embrace dialogue.

He decalared, “it is essential that we know that our present world is sustained by dialogue, mutual understanding and constructive engagement.”

The commissioner noted that the Amaechi led administration had drastically reduced youth restiveness and fostered inter-community relationship.

He warned youths ahead of the elections next year to establish bridges of love and trust and avoid being used by politicians as thugs in order not to derail the  nascent democracy.
