The Ahoada East Local Government  Council in Rivers State is to embark on total demolition of all illegal and unapproved temporary structures scattered all over the area as part of the efforts to regain the last glory of Ahoada metropolis.

The Director of Works in Ahoada East LG Council, Mr S .O.Jared, who announced this to newsmen shortly after a general inspection of Ahoada metropolis, said caravans, kerosene thanks and unapproved street naming will also be removed. Mr. Jared expressed dismay over the lackadaisical attitude of some owners of such structures, pointing out that such attitude has gone a longway to deface the physical environmental design of the metropolis.

Jared, therefore, advised owners of such items to get rid of them to avoid unpleasant consequences.

Also speaking, the LG Chief Superintendent of Building, Chief Umanugbeso Uzuzu noted that the council had earlier directed such owners to revalidate the consent or approvals granted on their development so as to conform with the planning order, failure of which such structures would be removed within seven days.

Chief Umanugbeso Uzuzu maintained that at the expiration of the notice all such temporary structures neither revalidated nor removed would be declared illegal and demolished at the expense of the owners without further notice.
